Answers

Q. Can I bring my own alcohol?
A.

As much as we love a good party our first priority is your safety. We do not allow BYOB as a way to make sure we are safely serving our customers.  We have a beautiful bar with lots of yummy drinks available for purchase.  Everything from wine, to craft beer, hard seltzers, canned cocktails, and champagne, to sodas, tea, coffee, and hot cocoa.

Q. Do you provide alcohol?
A.

Yes! We proudly serve wine, beer, hard seltzers, sangria, hard lattes, canned spirits, and more. Prices range from $3 to $26/bottle for our house wine. We do check IDs for every event and you may not bring in your own alcohol. Contact us if you would like our full bar menu.  We also have a great selection of non-alcoholic options.

Q. Do you have to be 21 to attend a Brush Studio painting class?
A.

All of our classes are open to ALL AGES.  However, our studio has an adult atmosphere and we do prefer 13+ at our public classes.  Guests younger than 16 years old must be supervised in the studio and be able to sit and follow instruction for at least 2 hours. No running, painting each other, painting the walls, etc. We do have a bar and often host bachelorette parties, adult birthday groups, team bonding, and more during our public classes and it is an upscale, adult vibe.  Please CONTACT US with questions about children attending the class you are interested in and we are more than happy to advise. We also offer one Saturday morning per month that is geared for families. Please see our calendar for dates.

Q. Do you offer gift certificates?
A.

Yes we do! We now offer Gift Certificates for purchase directly from our website.  These can be emailed to you or a card stock version can be snail mailed to you or to the lucky recipient.  These can be used for in-studio classes or At Home kits.

Q. How do I sign up and what do I need to do in advance?
A.

In a relaxed setting our very talented (and funny!) artists will guide you through the featured painting step by step. There is no experience necessary and by the end of the class you will be amazed at what you have created!  We highly suggest that you sign up in advance on our website due to classes selling out. We do not accept walk-ins at this time.  There are three ways to sign up: Register and pay online *preferred*, over the phone at (616) 570-0682, or email us at info@brushgr.com and we will help you register. Click on the tab above that says Calendar and find the date/painting you are interested in. Register online and follow the payment option, or give us a call and we can get you taken care of over the phone or via email.

Q. What is the cost and what is included?
A.

For our regular canvas classes the cost is $30-$38.  We provide a 16x20" or 12x16" canvas, paint, brushes, easels and aprons. Our Wooden Sign Workshops are $65 and these will be launched again in 2024. We are always adding new and exciting events where pricing may be different depending on the class.

Any drinks you would like to purchase are extra and no alcohol is included in your reservation.

Q. How long are the classes?
A.

The classes last between 2 and 2 1/2 hours.

Q. What should I wear?
A.

Although we do provide aprons, we cannot be held responsible for the occasional paint spilled on a new dress! The acrylic paint is sometimes tricky to get out so we recommend leaving your expensive items at home. Hey, if you can rock white pants - go for it!  But they might end up with a few colorful splatters by the end of class!

Q. Can I bring in food?
A.

You are certainly welcome to bring in light snacks for your group. We do not sell any food at the studio. For private events you can have your party catered and we love all of the local restaurants in Downtown Grand Rapids and they will deliver right to us! If you do want to bring in a party platter, let us know so we can plan accordingly.

Q. What time should I get there?
A.

We recommend that you arrive about 15 to 20 minutes before class begins. This allows plenty of time to check-in, grab a drink from our bar, and pump your paint. We love our classes to start on time! Downtown Grand Rapids has a lot of events happening so be sure to allow enough time to park and make your way to the studio.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A.

We ask you to give us 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations should be made online or over the phone. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space. We will charge the class fee for reservations not cancelled 48 hours in advance.

Q. When do you launch your classes online?
A.

Our schedules come out about six weeks in advance. Join our email list at the bottom of our homepage and you will get newsletters and updates sent right to your inbox.

Q. There is a specific painting I want to paint, how often are they repeated?
A.

We want to hear from you! If there is a specific painting you missed and have been waiting for please email us at info@brushgr.com and let us know. We will try and get it on the next calendar update. Depending on the popularity of a painting, we typically do not repeat a design within the month. Also, keep an eye on our calendar for Open Paint sessions where you can paint any of our (or your own) fun designs!

Q. If I come with a group or even just a friend can we sit together?
A.

Of course! Just make sure you let us know when making your reservation and we will be sure to seat you together. There is a spot on registration that says GROUP NAME - let us know who your friends are and we will seat you together.  You can email us anytime at info@brushgr.com and we can double check your friend group to make sure you are all together.

Our laid back atmosphere is a great place to try something new. Or for you Picassos, it’s an opportunity to get out and away for some entertainment. Either way you will leave with a newfound confidence.
